At Cipriani's special care has always been taken to developing production strictly in line with the original project. Most importantly, in the course of years Luigi Cipriani has shifted his attention from the object per se to the object in its environment, carefully following the functional, ritual and symbolic changes happening in everyday life. Thus Cipriani has gone through a constant growth expressing cultural roots and lifestyles in a final result where art and product are one and the same.
Quality marks all the production phases, from project-developing to the final finishes, typical of true craftsmanship.
Project-making begins with a careful targeted selection of fabrics displayed in the Cipriani's showroom, which occupies the front part of the shop - the workroom lies at the back. Selection of fabrics is achieved also thanks to the use of ad hoc software programmes such as DecoDesigner (www.jab.de) and Tessil Mixer. If Tessil Mixer enables choosing awnings, DecoDesigner makes it possible for customers, under Cipriani's guidance, to "decorate" rooms, matching the fabrics chosen with beds, curtains, walls and any other soft furnishings they are interested in and viewing the final overall result on the computer screen. In order to create more characteristic rooms (i.e. with period furniture) customers can choose from a wide range of images collected in Cipriani's "historical photographic archive".
Luigi Cipriani's hallmarks of high quality and attention to detail, requirements of true craftsmanship, are maintained even when dealing with very large orders. Indeed Cipriani's can avail itself of the collaboration of the "Consorzio Artigiano Tappezzieri d'Arte" (Art Upholsterers' Consortium) of which it has been a member since 1975.
Cipriani's know-how is the combination of skills passed down from previous generations as well as the acquisition of technological innovations, namely (since 1956) the Silent Gliss professional aluminium accessories (www.silentgliss.it) that enable the perfect functioning of Cipriani's curtains; latex foam (used since the '50s), enabling the creation of new shapes (see the seashell-shaped armchair - 1957); Dacron® by Dupont (www.dupont.com) used by Cipriani for padding since 1975 and, finally, Waterlily® (www.waterlily.it).
As a result of project research, the Ciprianis' know-how is also characterized by a great deal of creativity which started manifesting itself back in the Fifties (connect to "historical photographic archive", show patented sofa) and continued doing so ever since culminating in original design objects that are still in production: the Attica curtain, patented in 1982; the Fontana curtain, designed in 1998 and manufactured with an innovative mechanics; the Canottino children's bed.
The legacy inherited by Luigi Cipriani means that his know-how also includes the 19th century craftsmen's techniques necessary to restore the upholstery of antique furniture (with methods and materials similar to those used at the time). In addition, Luigi Cipriani's firm is member of the "Museo Storico e Didattico della Tappezzeria" (Historical and Didactical Upholstery Museum), which means that he not only participates in all the activities of the museum, but also acts as a contact person with the museum restoration workshop for the restoration of fabrics, tapestries, carpets and so on.
Cipriani's long history of true "artistic traditional" craftsmanship cannot be summarized in a catalogue since each single piece is unique and designed to meet specific aesthetic and functional needs.
Therefore what can be seen in the different sections - "creazioni" (creations), "esecuzioni particolari" (special projects) and "archivio storico" (historical photographic archive) - is just a small part of the large production that Luigi Cipriani has made and can make by putting his wide experience at your service.
